The approved activities of the CADA for achieving optimum utilisation of irrigation potential are :-

               1.    Construction/Lining of field Channels
               2.    Adaptive trials/Demonstration Plots
               3.    Training of Farmers
               4.    Training of Technical Staff
               5.    Participative Irrigation Management.
               6.    Evaluation Study
               7.    Monitoring and evaluation

1. Construction/lining of field channels:

Command Area Development Authority looks after ‘on farm development’ for the selected irrigation projects. Since chak boundaries are fixed by Irrigation Department, detailed surveys are carried out in these chaks for making out proper alignment of lined watercourses. While fixing the alignment of lined watercourses the views and comments of the irrigators are accounted for. The schemes are brought to the knowledge of the farmers and these are finalised after ascertaining their views. As such, alignment of watercourses is made on technically sound basis with slight adjustments to satisfy the farmers whose holdings are divided.

2. Laying of Demonstration Plots/Adaptive Trials :

The demonstration plots are laid over the farmers’ fields to change the cropping patter as per type of soil, climate and availability of water in the Command areas. All inputs are being provided by CADA for such demonstration.

3. Training Programme of Farmers :

The farmers of the area are trained regarding adoption of modern techniques of farming, water management practices and other agronomical practices by organising farmers meeting/camps conducting , study tours of farmers to Agriculture Universities other states and research institutions and holding Seminars etc.

4. Evaluation Studies :

CADA has already taken steps to monitor various CADA Projects in the state through independent agencies. It has been endeavored to evaluate the performance of the projects taken up under CAD Programme in Haryana. So far six evaluation studies have been got carried out by WAPCOS, HAU and Economic & Statistical Organisation, Planning Department Haryana besides 11 evaluation Studies carried out departmentally by the Monitoring & Evaluation circle CADA.

5. Training to technical staff :

Training programmes are conducted to train the personnel engaged in CAD Programme to refresh their knowledge and expose them latest technology in order to improve their efficiency in carrying out CAD activities for providing necessary on-farm infrastructure to the farmers for optimal use of irrigation water. These activities have considerably increased the utilisation of  existing searce  irrigation resources.
